Bringing Elevated Retail Experiences to SingLand’s West Mall

Bringing Elevated Retail Experiences to SingLand’s West Mall

With shoppers looking for more community-centric and unique shopping experiences, SingLand is elevating the retail experiences offered at its malls, starting with West Mall. Located in Bukit Batok Central, West Mall is a popular destination mall for residents living in the West due its accessibility to residential areas such as Bukit Batok, Hillview, and the upcoming Tengah precincts.

To stay competitive and offer more engaging experiences to shoppers, SingLand embarked on an asset enhancement initiative (AEI) to transform the five-storey West Mall into a vibrant community hub. The AEI commenced in the first half of 2023 and is targeted to complete in 2025. Throughout the period of the AEI, the mall remains operational with works planned in phases to minimise inconvenience to shoppers.

A Thriving Community Hub

For West Mall’s transformation, SingLand adopted a holistic approach, taking into consideration the evolving role of malls as community hubs while ensuring the mall continued to expand its variety of amenities and retail offerings. As part of the AEI, the mall’s open plaza is being converted into a sheltered public space, serving as a weatherproof meeting point to host community events such as group workouts and festive-themed celebrations. Participants of these events are also able to grab a quick bite from the food and beverage (F&B) kiosks found at the space.

At the same time, Bukit Batok Public Library located at the mall was temporarily closed towards the end of December 2023 to make way for a new experience. As part of the revamp, the library will double its size, and offer new spaces and experiences in reading, learning and discovery when it reopens by end 2025.

Refresh of Retail Offerings

The pandemic has accelerated a permanent shift in consumption behaviour with more consumers adopting a mix of physical and online retail for their shopping needs. To stay ahead, apart from incorporating more communal entertainment spaces, malls need to constantly refresh their trade mix to bring in retailers with fresh innovative concepts and new-to-market brands.

Part of West Mall’s AEI will see the expansion of F&B and lifestyle offerings at its basement one, reinforcing the mall as a leading ‘eat, shop and play’ destination in the West. This will also allow the mall to better serve a wider range of diversified preferences, given that its catchment area is expected to grow further as more owners move into their newly completed homes at the neighbouring Tengah precinct in the coming years. For leasing enquiries, please contact West Mall at https://www.westmall.com.sg/contact-westmall/leasing-shop-space/
