Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and MakeMyTrip, a prominent online travel company in India, have announced a strategic partnership to promote Singapore as a premier destination for Indian tourists. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) inked by the two institutions is a significant step forward in their partnership to improve tourist prospects and develop bilateral connections between Singapore and India.

The primary goal of the collaboration is to raise Singapore’s status as a favored destination for Indian holidaymakers. STB and MakeMyTrip want to increase inbound tourism to Singapore through joint activations and marketing activities by 2024. Using MakeMyTrip’s market knowledge, the alliance would enable the production of bespoke holiday packages to meet the different interests of Indian consumers.

India holds a prominent position as one of the top five markets for Singapore’s tourism industry. In 2023, Singapore welcomed over 1 million Indian visitors, reflecting the growing popularity of the city-state among Indian travelers. With direct flight connections from 17 cities in India, Singapore offers excellent accessibility and a compelling array of attractions that appeal to a broad spectrum of Indian tourists.

Melissa Ow, Chief Executive of the Singapore Tourism Board, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with MakeMyTrip, highlighting its significance as the first-ever collaboration with an online travel platform in India. Emphasizing the goal of enhancing Singapore’s appeal to Indian consumers, Ow underscored the importance of deepening brand affinity and showcasing the city’s diverse offerings to different segments of Indian travelers.

Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, emphasized Singapore’s growing popularity among Indian travelers, citing it as one of the top three searched international destinations on their platform. Magow attributed this trend to Singapore’s continuous efforts to refresh its offerings, seamless travel access, and amenities tailored to Indian preferences. He expressed confidence in the partnership’s ability to amplify Singapore’s allure further and capture the interest of more Indian travelers.
