Singapore International Transport Congress and Exhibition (SITCE) Highlights Key Innovations for a Sustainable Urban Future

The Singapore International Transport Congress and Exhibition (SITCE) took place from November 6 to 8, 2024, at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. Jointly organised by the Land Transport Authority (LTA), the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), and LTA’s subsidiary, MSI Global Pte Ltd, SITCE once again brought together key urban land transport professionals, innovators, and experts to explore transformative solutions for urban mobility.

Themed “Smarter Journeys for Sustainable Cities,” the event provided an important platform for sharing insights, best practices, and forming partnerships that would shape the future of land transport. Singapore’s Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Finance, Mr. Chee Hong Tat, delivered the opening speech, setting the tone for the discussions over the next three days.

During the event, more than 100 experts and moderators presented strategies, innovations, and technologies aimed at addressing the challenges facing the land transport industry. Topics ranged from urban congestion to achieving net-zero targets and integrating new transport modes, with a focus on accessibility and smart technologies in urban mobility.

The congress attracted over 5,000 transport officials and professionals from more than 30 countries and regions, showcasing the global interest in transforming the future of urban transport. Additionally, more than 100 local and international companies participated in the exhibition, presenting cutting-edge solutions and technologies for urban transport.

LTA’s Chief Executive, Ng Lang, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “The future of mobility goes beyond addressing urban congestion. It also focuses on achieving net-zero targets and meeting the diverse needs of commuters. SITCE offers an exciting opportunity to explore transformative and collaborative solutions that will create more connected, sustainable, and resilient cities for future generations.”

Renée Amilcar, President of UITP, added, “With the theme of ‘Smarter Journeys for Sustainable Cities,’ SITCE explored key issues such as sustainability, accessibility, and smart technology. Public transport must continue to evolve, and by addressing the challenges, we can move forward in creating the best solutions for the future of urban mobility.”
