MOUs Worth Over S$60 Million Signed at 7th Singapore-China Trade and Investment Forum
New Growth and Bilateral Partnerships across Key Sectors including Trade, Technology, and Healthcare
At the 7th Singapore-China Trade and Investment Forum (SCTIF) held alongside the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) brought together over 300 business leaders from Singapore and China, both onsite and online. Under the theme, “Singapore-China: A Shared Journey Towards High-Quality Partnership,” the Forum highlighted new growth areas and strengthened collaboration between the two nations, paving the way for innovative partnerships across sectors.
Singapore’s Ambassador to China, Mr. Peter Tan, opened the Forum with a keynote speech on the growing trade potential and opportunities for bilateral investment, underscoring Singapore’s strategic position as a hub for Chinese businesses seeking to enter ASEAN markets.
In a significant outcome, 15 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) valued at over S$60 million were signed. These agreements span a variety of sectors, including cross-border trade solutions, construction technology, education services, healthcare, and logistics, demonstrating SCTIF’s role in promoting impactful business connections.
SBF CEO Mr. Kok Ping Soon expressed enthusiasm for the increasing number of MOUs, highlighting the Forum’s enduring value in fostering trade and cooperation. “The partnerships established today affirm our joint commitment to sustainable bilateral growth,” he noted, emphasizing SBF’s mission to help Singaporean businesses expand in China and to support Chinese companies in exploring opportunities within Singapore and the ASEAN region.
The event featured a panel discussion with prominent business leaders, such as Mr. Xu Yaoyao of Bank of China (Singapore), Dr. Zou Ruiyang of Mirxes, and Mr. William Chang of Sembcorp China, moderated by Mr. Kelvin Kee of SBF. Panelists shared insights on the future of trade, investment, and mutual benefits, offering perspectives on the unique opportunities for enhanced Singapore-China economic ties.
Supported by Enterprise Singapore and the Bank of China (Singapore Branch), the event was held at Crowne Plaza Shanghai Hongqiao and streamed to audiences across China, Singapore, and ASEAN, marking a pivotal step in advancing cross-border partnerships for both countries.
